It is often said that the diverse communities that surround Evanston meld their cultures here.
Many find this very appealing because the communities bordering Evanston are so different.

ACES sees the rapid adaptation of online interactive and streaming media technology as a potential catalyst for the 'dot connecting' that we referred to in

ACES Communities Creative Community/Network, II of VI

On a recent ACES show, unanimity prevailed.... improving the flow of communication about creative groups and activities is vitally important: "Connecting the dots" in all of the directions that matter to our interconnected Creative Community/Network."

ACES Communities Creative Community/Network , Part I of VI

ACES maintains...no matter how well endowed with creative "assets" a community or "cultural network" may be, more creative potential may be catalyzed by building on the sense of' 'Place.' And that invariably means more economic potential, as well. Such is the symbiotic relationship between Evanston and the communities on and beyond its borders in every direction.

This is a part of the ambitious thinking underlying tangents of the Creat

ACES Communities New City article on 1046 Sheridan: A 'Better Story' behind the story

The metaphors emanating from this landmark restoration seem endless. Jason Foumberg of New City is scraping the "tip of the iceberg" with this one:
"Janet’s Francophile taste competes with Peter’s austere modernist approach. The harmony of disparate domestic styles can be a metaphor, says Janet and Peter, for romantic love.

Antony van Zyl Digital Schizophrenia

Lately I have been wondering who I am? Not in the metaphysical sense - that question has, with age, been mostly answered (and not always in ways that I like). Instead, recently I have been asking myself who I am in a virtual sense. It's not like I have developed some version of digital multiple personalities - although i have occassionally slipped into another virtual disguise here and there. Antony van Zyl Schools and another budget crunch

Once again our schools are plagued by a budget shortfall so we go into another round of layoffs, program cuts, administration wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Seems like a rerun of last year, or was that the year before - perhaps the year before that. In some ways it seems like a never ending soap opera - new drama, same plot line.
