It is often said that the diverse communities that surround Evanston meld their cultures here.
Many find this very appealing because the communities bordering Evanston are so different.

The metaphors emanating from this landmark restoration seem endless. Jason Foumberg of New City is scraping the "tip of the iceberg" with this one:
"Janet’s Francophile taste competes with Peter’s austere modernist approach. The harmony of disparate domestic styles can be a metaphor, says Janet and Peter, for romantic love.
