I love Evanston. that has to be said at the top because all too often constructive criticism is shot down with the old refrain - "If you don't like it, why not leave"

I moved here over 20 years ago and watched (and am still watching) my five children go through its school system.

Evanston was always billed as a progressive city, a forward thinking, liberal city distinct from other Chicago suburbs by it's independence and self reliance.
