The EVANSTON COMMUNITY MEDIA CENTER is your place to participate in the new media explosion. ECMC is dedicated to providing access to broadcast quality equipment, training and support in the creation of YOUR media.

ECMC operates and provides access to the community access channel (channel 6 in Evanston on Comcast Cable) as well as operates channel 16 (Government Access), channel 18 (District 202 and channel 19 (District 65)

The ECMC has recently partnered with EVANSTON ONLINE to expand access to all of its community programming on the Internet.

The Evanston Community Media Center is a registered Illinois Not for Profit corporation. Like all not for profit entities we rely on grants, funding and donations.

Introduction to Community Television

March 1

7pm - 9:30pm

This is a one-session class. Participants learn about the purpose and history of public access television, access services available at ECMC, the policies and procedures of our organization, and how to operate cameras for studio productions.

 

 

The Intro class certifies new members to operate our studio cameras, and is a prerequisite for all other production classes and workshops, and productions at the Evanston Community Media Center.

Studio Production

May 4 - 20

Participants will learn how to produce and direct a studio television program, all about pre-production planning, and how to work as crew on cameras, lighting, audio, switching, and titling through hands-on-training. Upon completion of the course, participants may produce or crew programs in the Media Center studios.

  • Prerequisite: Introduction Class
  • Class Size: Minimum of 6, Maximum of 12
  • Number of Sessions: Eight Sessions

Portable Editing  

This class covers the fundamentals of portable video production using prosumer DV camcorders as well as professional audio and lighting equipment. Students will be introduced to the basics of non-linear editing with Final Cut Pro. Just the basics of Final Cut Pro will be covered.

Upon completion of this course, participants become certified to use the Media Center field equipment and editing suites.

  • Prerequisite: Introduction Class
  • Class Size: Minimum of 3, Maximum of 5
  • Number of Sessions: Six Sessions
  • Duration of Sessions: Three hours each session

Advanced Mac Class

This class teaches advanced Final Cut Pro techniques. It also covers the rest of the programs in the Final Cut Suite; Live Type, Soundtrack Pro, Motion.

  • Prerequisite: Completion of Final Cut Pro Class
  • Class Size: Minimum of 3, Maximum of 5
  • Number of Sessions: Four Sessions
